Design: Hydraulic ball valves typically have a compact design with a spherical ball inside a valve body. The ball has a through-hole (bore) that can be opened or closed by rotating the valve handle or actuator.
Flow Control: By rotating the ball, the hydraulic ball valve can be positioned to allow fluid to flow through the bore or to block the flow completely. When the bore aligns with the flow path, fluid can pass through the valve; when the bore is perpendicular to the flow path, the valve is closed, preventing fluid flow.
Full Bore or Reduced Bore: Hydraulic ball valves are available in full bore and reduced bore configurations. In a full bore design, the bore diameter is the same as the pipe diameter, allowing maximum flow capacity. In a reduced bore design, the bore diameter is smaller than the pipe diameter, which may restrict the flow to some extent.
Two-Way and Three-Way: Hydraulic ball valves can be classified as two-way or three-way valves. In a two-way ball valve, the flow is either on or off, with a single inlet and a single outlet port. Three-way ball valves have one inlet and two outlet ports, allowing for diverting or mixing of fluid flows.
Actuation: Hydraulic ball valves can be manually operated or actuated using various methods. Manual ball valves use a lever or a handle to rotate the ball. Actuated ball valves employ pneumatic or hydraulic actuators to automate the opening and closing of the valve.
Materials and Pressure Ratings: Hydraulic ball valves are available in a variety of materials, such as brass, stainless steel, or carbon steel, to suit different applications and fluid compatibility requirements. They are designed to handle a wide range of pressures, depending on the specific valve design and construction.
